Pro Bono Opportunities
Lawyer as Citizen: The Power of Pro Bono.
Pro Bono and public interest service are crucial aspects of the legal profession and a fantastic opportunity for law students. OCU Law School values pro bono work as a vital component of your legal education. Pro bono work is the opportunity to serve the community and make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. By volunteering your time, you can help to ensure that individuals and communities have access to justice and legal assistance, regardless of financial means. This can be a deeply rewarding experience for you, especially if you are looking to give back to your community and make a difference in the world. You will also gain practical legal experience, develop valuable skills and establish professional connections. OCU Law provides more than 80 pro bono placement sites that include federal, state, local and tribal governments, and pro bono and public service organizations.
Students who are interested in public interest opportunities can find more information on D2L.
Dean’s Summer Pro Bono Program
Work at nonprofit legal organizations over the summer, gaining hands-on legal experience while providing crucial legal aid to those who cannot afford it. The Dean’s Summer Pro Bono program provides funding for students to work at a variety of legal organizations, such as legal aid clinics, public defenders’ offices and nonprofit advocacy groups. Additionally, students can propose their own pro bono project to tackle specific legal issues they are passionate about. By supporting students in their work with nonprofit legal organizations, the Dean’s Summer Pro Bono program helps to ensure that everyone in the community has access to legal services, regardless of their financial circumstances.
The Oklahoma Access to Justice Foundation
