Jay Hitt
Jay Hitt grew up in Lubbock, Texas. He began his studies on a golf scholarship at Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas. There he was a two-time NJCAA Academic All-American. He found his passion for reading and writing at the community college. He was the Western Texas College student of the year before returning home to Texas Tech University.
Jay graduated from Texas Tech University Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Political Science. During his time at Texas Tech, Jay studied literature and language with a specific interest in translation. He studied Spanish abroad in Seville, Spain which fueled his subsequent work in translation. Jay also spent time with Texas Tech’s undergraduate moot court team, learning the fundamentals of appellate advocacy. His most meaningful involvement at Texas Tech was with Redeemer church and their college ministry.
During law school, Jay has received the CALI Award for Excellence in Civil Procedure I, Contracts I, Contracts II, and Legal Research and Writing I. Jay is a member of the Oklahoma City University Law Review and the NALSA Moot Court team. He is also an Academic Fellow for Contracts.
Jay has had the pleasure of working as a summer clerk at DeWitt Paruolo Meek, Phillips Murrah, and Hartzog Conger Cason. He also has had the privilege of working as a judicial extern to the Honorable Patrick R. Wyrick in the Western District of Oklahoma. After graduation and the bar exam, Jay will join Phillips Murrah as an Associate.
