Jacqueline Valdez-Ortiz, 3L
My name is Jacqueline Valdez-Ortiz. I am originally from Dallas, TX, specifically Pleasant Grove. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Texas Woman’s University and completed my Master of Social Work at The University of Texas at Arlington. Currently, I reside near the capitol, just a short 10-minute drive from campus.
At OCU Law, I hold the positions of academic fellow, law ambassador, President for Family Law Association and the Catholic Association, and Vice President for the Hispanic/Latin Law Student Association. Since December of 2023, I have been employed at Joan Lopez & Michael Johnson Law Firm focusing on family and criminal law.
What I value most about OCU is the support I have received from the Hispanic organization. I have connected with individuals facing similar challenges in higher education, particularly as a first-generation student, and have found invaluable support in both my professional and personal life.
