HEROES Clinic
The HEROES (Helping to Eliminate Re-entry Obstacles to Enhance Stability) Clinic empowers law students to make a meaningful impact in criminal justice reform. Under faculty supervision, students provide vital legal assistance to individuals facing barriers from past justice system involvement.
The clinic focuses on critical issues including expungement, fine and fee mitigation, and removing obstacles to employment, housing, and education. Through hands-on client representation and intensive coursework, students develop practical legal skills while examining systemic inequities in the criminal justice system. Our work goes beyond individual cases – we strive to create lasting change by helping clients rebuild their lives and advocating for reforms that promote fairness and stability in our community. Students gain invaluable experience in client counseling, legal research and writing, court advocacy, and understanding the ethical dimensions of criminal justice practice.
