When Dean Jim Roth took the reins of the law school, he wanted to rebuild and strengthen relationships with alumni across the country. He desired an Alumni Association that established strong relationships with law students from the outset and one that could show meaningful results and benefits for our school and alumni and through his leadership, we have now grown a vibrant and active association.
Because of your commitment, the OCU Law Alumni Association has been able to provide scholarships to multiple students, and we hope to grow those scholarships with continued and increasing support and memberships.
Over the past two years, the Board established multiple committees and groups that furthered our mission, including a Mentorship Program, a Student Engagement Program, and a Special Events Committee.
The Mentorship Committee
The Mentorship Committee focuses on providing mentorship opportunities for OCU Law students to prepare them for the practice of law through a semester-based mentorship program.
In spring 2020, we quickly realized that there would have to be major changes to the program for fall, so we moved it entirely online, to help connect our alumni with students who desperately needed support during a wild fall semester.
The Student Engagement Committee
The Student Engagement Committee connects the OCU Law Alumni Association to current students. Since the Alumni Association recommenced in 2018, the Student Engagement Committee has hosted networking opportunities for students to meet and interact with OCU Law alum, provided coffee and snacks to students during finals, and supported similar efforts to affirm and encourage students.
The Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee focuses on connecting the OCU Law Alumni Association to the greater OCU Law community through hosting events such as the annual Alumni Awards Banquet and the free, online CLE available to members.
Finally, we want to highlight our exclusive member benefits provided to OCU Law Alumni Association members, that consist of free access to Continuing Legal Education opportunities for OCU Law alumni along with other events in the metro area that will connect you to OCU Law, students, and the Oklahoma City community. We also enjoy discounts with Enterprise Rent-A-Car / Alamo / National Car Rentals, 21C Museum Hotel – OKC, Gold’s Gym – OKC, Commonplace Books – OKC, and The Journal Record.
We invite you to join today at lawconnect.okcu.edu/join.
