OCU LAW provides more than $1 million in annual scholarship offerings. Even so, law school is a significant financial investment.
Good financial management on the part of current students is a necessity.
This section of our website provides more information about available scholarships for current students, as well as planning tools to help you prepare.

CHANGES IN SUBSIDIZED LOANS
11/15/11
Attention All Students:
Since the start of the Direct Lending program last year, the government has been giving an up-front interest rate rebate for all direct loans. This interest rate rebate was called a loan repayment incentive.
When a Stafford loan was originated, the student was charged a 1% origination fee by the government, but received an immediate .5% rebate, so the origination fee actually became .5%.
When a Plus loan (Parent or Graduate) was originated, the student or parent was charged a 4% origination fee but received an immediate 1.5% rebate, so the origination fee actually became 2.5%.
One of the provisions arising from the Budget Control Act of 2011 is the elimination of all loan repayment incentives effective 1 July, 2012.
We are continuing to research this issue to see how it will affect the financial aid for our students. We will keep you informed as we continue to receive guidance from the US Department of Education.
If you have any questions, please call the Financial Aid Office (405) 208-5211
11/14/11
Attention Graduate and Professional Students:
In general, most graduate students have been eligible for $20,500 in Stafford Loans each academic year; $8,500 of which could be subsidized. On a subsidized Stafford Loan, the government paid the interest during periods the loan was in deferment, grace or forbearance.
One of the provisions arising from the Budget Control Act of 2011 is the elimination of the subsidized Stafford loan for Graduate Students effective 1 July, 2012.
Stafford Loans will continue to be offered; however, there will be no amount subsidized.
We are continuing to research this issue to see how it will affect our financial aid for summer. We will keep you informed as we continue to receive guidance from the US Department of Education.

OCU SCHOLARSHIPS
If you want to be considered for the OBF Fellows scholarship the deadline for submission is April 1. The deadline for all other scholarships is June 1 by 5:00 p.m. Please submit your application to the Academic Affairs Office in the Dean’s Suite; hardcopies are preferable, but applications that are scanned and then e-mailed to lawaa@okcu.edu are also acceptable. If you have any questions regarding scholarship opportunities or the application process, please contact the Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs via email (above) or at (405) 208-5877.
A scholarship is typically divided evenly between the fall and spring semesters. If you want your scholarship allocated unevenly (e.g. because you want to take more hours in the fall and fewer in the spring), an exception might be made. To apply for an exception, please send an e-mail to lawaa@okcu.edu.
If you are currently a renewable scholarship recipient:
Your scholarship will be automatically renewed next year if your grades at the end of the academic year place you in the top half of your class, or as otherwise stated in your scholarship letter. Although current renewable scholarships will be automatically renewed if earned, you still need to fill out this application if you are seeking an increase in funds.
