OKLAHOMA CITY (March 23, 2015) – Chris Harrison, who played soccer at Oklahoma City University as an undergrad before rocketing to fame as one of America’s favorite television hosts, returns to his alma mater to host the Oklahoma City University School of Law grand opening ceremony March 27.

A ribbon-cutting celebration will officially open the newly renovated law school building at Eighth and Harvey in downtown Oklahoma City. Open to the public, the ribbon cutting will commence from the law school’s Grand Hall at 11:30 a.m., followed by public tours of the building and evening activities hosted in conjunction with the H&8th Night Market.

“This will be a day of celebration for the entire Oklahoma City University family and for our extended family of neighbors and partners downtown,” said Valerie Couch, Dean of the School of Law. “As a former resident of this city, Chris Harrison offers a unique perspective on how Oklahoma City has changed since he graduated in the early ‘90s. We are grateful he will return to celebrate this important day for the city and OCU.”

Harrison began his television career covering local sports for KWTV in Oklahoma City. After six years, the Dallas, Texas native headed to Los Angeles to work for a horseracing network but landed the job as host of HGTV’s Designer’s Challenge, which was consistently one of the network’s highest rated shows.

In 2001, he became host of ABC’s hit reality television series The Bachelor and has since hosted its spin-offs The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad, “all-star” reunions and Bachelor in Paradise.
Harrison has co-hosted The Miss America Pageant several times since 2004 as well as numerous red carpet shows such as Emmys Red Carpet Live (2012), ABC’s American Music Awards Red Carpet Live (2008/2011) and Road to the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards (2008). In 2008, Harrison moved to TV Guide to cover all major awards shows and host the network’s one-hour weekly entertainment show, Hollywood 411. In 2010, he formed his own production company, Harrison Productions, under which he will continue to host and executive produce all of TV Guide’s red carpet shows.

In addition to the School of Law’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, other grand opening events will include an internal kickoff event for School of Law students, faculty and staff on March 23; a breakfast and building tours for all OCU faculty and staff on March 24; a reception honoring donors to the new building on March 25; and a reunion reception for all School of Law alumni on March 27.
