No. 10 – Faculty  advisor

Personal attention from faculty and staff gives the law school a community-feel.  Before first year orientation, students are assigned a faculty advisor who keeps in touch with students throughout law school to offer advice and provide support. The faculty advisor is dedicated to your success.

No. 9 – 1L Legal Analysis Prep Course

The Legal Analysis prep course is a week long, small group program taught by a law professor the week before classes begin.  It prepares students to effectively read and brief legal opinions, while giving them an idea of what their first year courses will be like.  Completion of Legal Analysis earns 1Ls their first hour of credit toward their J.D.

No. 8 – 24-Hour Law Library Access

Oklahoma City University School of Law has the only law library open around the clock.  After 9pm each night, students can gain access by swiping their student ID cards.  Being able to study in a quiet, safe environment – regardless of the time – is the ultimate convenience.

No. 7 – Energy and Natural Resources Law Certificate

In August 2011, Oklahoma City University of Law launched the state’s only Innocence Project that works to identify and remedy wrongful convictions. By participating as clinicians, students are able to get hands-on experience in the criminal legal system by researching, investigating and litigating as they work to exonerate defendants imprisoned for crimes they did not commit.

No. 2 – Dead Week-a week off from class to prepare for finals

Right before final exams, students get up to one week off from class to dedicate time solely to preparing for their tests.  Free snacks and coffee are also provided in the law library during finals time.
