The Oxford Plan

COLLEGE AND LAW SCHOOL IN JUST SIX YEARS

The Oxford Plan puts students on the fast track to a law degree. The Plan is a 3-3 pre-law program that features a specially designed undergraduate pre-law major. It combines a specially designed undergraduate major with guaranteed or preferred admission to the university’s School of Law. The Oxford Plan allows the talented student to complete the Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees in just six years, rather than the traditional seven years. The Oxford Plan is open to any student who is admitted to Oklahoma City University as a first-year student and who has any of the following:

  • A composite ACT score of 27 or higher
  • A combined math and verbal SAT score of 1220 or higher
  • Or a high school GPA of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • International students must also have an internet-based TOEFL (IBT) score of 100 or higher.

THE OXFORD PLAN’S ADVANTAGE IN ADMISSION TO LAW SCHOOL

Successful participants in the Oxford Plan qualify for guaranteed or preferred admission to the Oklahoma City University School of Law.  A participant with an LSAT score of 155 or higher and an undergraduate grade point average of 3.5 or higher is guaranteed admission to the School of Law.  Other participants receive a preference in admission to the School of Law over applicants from other undergraduate institutions.  To qualify for guaranteed or preferred admission, the participant must meet the School of Law’s character and fitness requirements and apply by February 1.

Participants in the Oxford Plan may also qualify to complete their combined Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees in only six years, rather than the usual seven years.  Participants who successfully complete all of the requirements of the Oxford Plan and their foreign language requirement and are admitted to the School of Law may begin law school after only three years of undergraduate work.  They receive their Bachelor of Arts degrees after successfully completing the first year of law school.

A SPECIALLY DESIGNED UNDERGRADUATE MAJOR

The Oxford Plan is a broad, interdisciplinary major specially designed with the assistance of the faculty of the OCU School of Law. The Plan takes its inspiration from the program in philosophy, politics, and economics at the University of Oxford.  The Plan includes course work in economics, history, philosophy, government, statistics, and literature and emphasizes the development of strong writing skills.  Participants in the Oxford Plan may also participate in the university’s Honors Program.
