Oklahoma’s Open Carry Law goes into effect today.  Senate Bill 1733, signed by Governor Mary Fallin in May, allows gun owners with a permit to carry their firearms in public.  For more information about the new law, see this article from NewsOK.com.  If you are interested in reading more about the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and the right to bear arms, we have many resources available here at the Law Library, including the new casebook co-authored by Professor Michael O’Shea of the Oklahoma City University School of Law.  To find even more sources, run a search on the Law Library catalog for “Second Amendment.”
