Job & Career Fairs Oklahoma City University School of Law encourages employers to participate in job and career fairs to find the perfect candidates for their positions. Law Career Services coordinates or actively participates in the following programs as a consortium member with other law schools: OKC LAW WORKS CAREER FAIR (formerly Government, Pro Bono, and Public Interest Law Career Fair) The purpose of this event is to educate students about the role lawyers play in meeting critical public service and pro bono legal needs within their communities, whether they work for a public service organization or a Fortune 500 company. Accordingly, the OKC Law Works Career Fair will expose students to our public interest and pro bono partners as well as the for-profit community in which our public interest and pro bono organizations operate. Representatives from numerous private, pro bono, and public sector organizations will be on hand to offer opportunities and advice on how students can put their skills to work on the path to a lifetime career. PUBLIC INTEREST RECRUITMENT PROGRAMS Equal Justice Works Equal Justice Works organizes, trains and supports public service-minded law students and is the national leader in creating summer and postgraduate public interest jobs. PSJD PSJD (formerly PSLawNet) provides a large jobs database of public interest and pro bono opportunities along with other types of information for students seeking opportunities to serve their communities and profession. MINORITY RECRUITMENT PROGRAMS Sunbelt Minority Recruitment Program Oklahoma City University School of Law is one of approximately 20 law schools that co-sponsor and coordinate this job fair. The program is held annually during early September in Dallas, Texas. Dallas Bar Association Minority Attorney Business Development Initiative The MABDI Project was established to assist the participating law firms in recruiting from a larger pool of minority candidates and to do so in a systematic way. Oklahoma City University School of Law was selected by the firms as one of the designated schools from which they would like potential candidates. Heartland Diversity Job Fair This program is coordinated by a consortium of legal employers in the Kansas City metro area. Their goal is to attract qualified minority candidates to Kansas City. Hispanic National Bar Association The HNBA Annual Convention hosts the nation’s largest career fair for experienced Hispanic lawyers and law students. National Black Prosecutors Association NBPA is the only professional membership organization dedicated to the advancement of Blacks as prosecutors. In addition to the annual convention, the NBPA hosts a job fair. National Latina/o Law Student Association The annual NLLSA Conference provides a forum for students and faculty from across the country to meet and learn about their particular issues and projects. Students can also learn about job opportunities at the NLLSA Career Fair. St. Louis Diversity Job Fair The primary goal of the Fair is to attract a diverse group of 2L and 3L students to the metropolitan St. Louis legal community, encourage them to practice law in the area, and become an integral part of our community. The Job Fair steering committee has invited law firms, corporations, and government agencies from all over the nation. SPECIALIZED RECRUITMENT PROGRAMS National LGBT Bar Association Every year, the sharpest legal minds in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community gather at the National LGBT Bar Association Career Fair & Conference. National Association of Women Lawyers Career Center NAWL provides a venue to make online employment connections with women in the legal profession. There are also options for women law students to become members. The Loyola Patent Law Interview Program This is a two-day interview program held in Chicago each summer that brings together patent law employers and law students from across the country to interview for summer associate positions and post-graduate employment.
